If your search started with travertine pavers, patio tile, or pool coping, coral stone belongs on your shortlist. Coralstone Legacy specializes in natural Dominican Coralstone—not travertine.
Comfort underfoot on sunny pool decks
Coral stone is valued for low heat retention, making barefoot comfort a strong reason to consider it for a pool deck. Compare coral stone and travertine samples side by side in your own sun exposure. Color, finish, weather, and installation affect surface temperature; no outdoor stone is guaranteed to stay cool in every condition.
Natural texture for wet areas
Coral stone can have a naturally grippy feel when wet, including filled-and-honed finishes. That tactile quality is one reason to compare it with travertine for poolside use; it is not limited to unfilled stone. Finish, sealer, wear, and surface cleanliness all affect wet traction, so choose the specific finish with your installer rather than treating any stone as slip-proof.
Does saltwater make travertine ‘melt’?
What looks like melting may be surface erosion, pitting, or salt-related flaking. Salt damage around pools is documented for travertine and other porous natural stone. It is not a universal outcome for all travertine, and Coralstone should not be assumed immune. Compare product-specific suitability, pool-water care, drainage, and the recommended sealing system before choosing either material.
Our Coralstone is also called coralina, fossil stone, or keystone. Visible fossil and shell patterns give each piece its own character. When comparing it with a travertine sample, look at the actual color, surface texture, and variation that would run across your patio or pool deck.
Compare the finish, not just the material name
A sample is more useful than a photograph when choosing between coral stone and travertine tile. Our finishes include saw cut, brushed, hammered, and filled & honed. Tell us whether the stone is for an outdoor walking surface, an interior floor, a shower, or a wall so we can discuss the appropriate options with your installer.
Pavers, pool coping, and the edges between them
Plan the whole space when reviewing alternatives to travertine pavers. Coralstone Legacy supplies custom-cut pavers, tile, pool coping, steps, veneer, and architectural pieces. Include dimensions, thicknesses, edge profiles, and transitions in your request. Bullnose, beveled, and eased-edge coping can be made to suit the project.
Questions to ask when comparing quotes
Are both quotes based on the same area, thickness, finish, and edge details?
Have you seen samples in the light where the stone will be installed?
What installation method, substrate, drainage, and maintenance does your installer recommend for each option?
What product-specific information is available for wet-surface use and your local climate?
Do the prices include custom cuts, waste allowance, packaging, and freight to your job site?
